Third Friday Archaeology Tour

Third Friday Archaeology Tour

Monthly guided archaeology tour through Fort Ancient museum and grounds with expert historian.

Join an archaeologist from the Ohio History Connection for an informative walk through Fort Ancient, one of Ohio's most impressive and well-preserved Hopewell earthworks. You'll learn about the American Indian cultures that lived in this region before European contact. The tour starts indoors at the museum gift shop lobby, then moves outside to explore several important archaeological sites on the grounds. If walking is challenging for your family, you can drive between the outdoor stops—all walking surfaces are level and accessible. The tour runs monthly on the third Friday at 1 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for children ages 6–17 and seniors age 60+, and free for children 5 and under as well as Ohio History Connection members. In case of bad weather, the entire tour stays indoors. This is a great outing for families interested in local history and archaeology, offering both educational content and outdoor exploration in a manageable timeframe.
