Speaking of History… Living History: A Paralympic Journey

Meet Josie Fouts, an adaptive athlete whose story challenges what's possible. Josie is a paracyclist and paraclimber who became a national record holder after leaving a science career to pursue elite competition. When a car accident broke their back, they didn't stop—just seven months later, they returned to competition in a new sport and placed 8th at the World Championships. Now based in San Diego, Josie uses cycling, climbing, and their lived experience as an Asian-American woman with a disability to inspire others and build community. This living history talk brings Josie's journey to life at the Ohio History Center. It's a great choice for families interested in sports, disability representation, perseverance, and real-world stories of overcoming obstacles. The program is included with regular museum admission: adults $16, seniors and college students $14, children ages 4–12 $10, and free for children 3 and under as well as Ohio History Connection members.
