Sketchbook Saturday: Building Artistic Skills One Page at a Time
Weekly art studio class at the library building drawing and creative thinking skills.
Sketchbook Saturday is an ongoing art program where young artists develop their drawing abilities and creative thinking through regular practice. Each session builds on the last, introducing new techniques and creative challenges. Your child will explore observational drawing, shading, composition, perspective, texture, color, and visual storytelling—all while building confidence in their own artistic voice. The instruction includes guided demonstrations and hands-on exploration, so students learn both technical skills and how to use their sketchbook as a personal creative tool.
The program welcomes artists at all levels, whether your child is just starting out or looking to strengthen existing skills. All supplies, including the sketchbook itself, are provided. Registration is required to participate. By attending regularly, students develop stronger artistic habits, improve their technical abilities, and create a visual record of their progress over time. It's designed as a supportive space where kids can practice consistently, explore different materials and approaches, and discover their own artistic style.
