Nourish Jr.: How We Roll: Sushi Academy

Nourish Jr.: How We Roll: Sushi Academy

Kids learn sushi-making basics at Nourish Jr. cooking class in New Albany.

Your tween will get hands-on experience rolling sushi in this interactive culinary class at the Philip Heit Center Demo Kitchen. Students learn the core skills they'll need: how to season rice just right, work with nori sheets, and use a bamboo mat like a pro. The best part? No raw fish involved—the focus is on vegetarian rolls and options made with cooked proteins, keeping things accessible and fun for younger cooks. During the 90-minute session, kids create and taste a variety of colorful rolls paired with custom dipping sauces they'll help prepare. It's a creative way to explore cooking techniques and discover new flavors in a supportive kitchen environment. The class is designed for grades 4 through 8. Registration is $45 per student, and you can contact Healthy New Albany at (614) 685-6344 with any questions about the program.
