Free Play
Free open play at Columbus Commons: carousel rides, parachute play, and imagination blocks.
Your family can enjoy a full afternoon of free activities at Columbus Commons. Kids can ride the Carousel, play under a parachute, build with the big blue blocks from Imagination Playground, kick a soccer ball, or invent their own games. It's an unstructured, open-ended kind of day where children have plenty of options to explore and play at their own pace.
While you're there, take advantage of the on-site food options—Tortilla Street Food Café and Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams are available if anyone gets hungry. There's also a Little Free Library where kids can grab a book. This free play series runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 4 pm throughout May, June, July, August, and September, though it's subject to weather. It's a great way to spend a downtown afternoon without breaking the bank.
