Finger Weaving Workshop
Learn traditional finger weaving at Octagon Earthworks in Columbus.
Step back in time and learn finger weaving, an ancient textile technique used by Indigenous communities for centuries. In this two-hour beginner workshop at Octagon Earthworks, you'll discover how to create beautiful woven sashes, belts, and straps using just your fingers—no loom required. An instructor will guide you through the fundamentals, and you'll start your own woven sash right away.
Don't worry if you don't finish during the session; you'll take home all the materials you need to complete your project at your own pace. This hands-on experience works well for kids ages 10 and up, as well as adults curious about traditional crafts and Indigenous history. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Registration is required, so reach out to the Octagon Earthworks team at 740.344.0498 or newarkearthworks@ohiohistory.org to secure your spot.
