Explore! Series: Building A Better World

Hands-on STEM day at Armstrong Air & Space Museum—build towers and solar bugs while exploring NASA innovation.

Your family can spend a full day exploring space and innovation at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum as part of the America 250 series. Kids will tackle hands-on STEM activities designed to spark curiosity about real NASA technology and engineering. Two standout projects include building a load-bearing structure called a "Tippy Tower" and creating a "Solar Bug" powered by solar energy—perfect for young minds interested in how things work. Throughout the day, guided tours are offered to help families understand space exploration in an engaging way. Activities and tours operate on a first-come, first-served basis with your general admission ticket, so no advance registration is needed. Admission ranges from free for children under 5 to $14 for adults, with discounted rates for seniors and children ages 6–12. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving you plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
