Earth Science Week: Statehouse Fossil Tour

Discover the ancient history hidden in plain sight during this special tour of Ohio's Statehouse. Expert guides—including a paleontologist, geologist, and museum curator—will lead you through the building while pointing out the fascinating fossils embedded in the stone walls and architectural features. You'll learn about Ohio's prehistoric past and the natural wonders that shaped our state long before the capitol was built. This free event works well for curious kids ages 5 and up, and everyone who attends receives a take-home guidebook about the Statehouse fossils. Two identical tours are offered back-to-back, so you can choose the time slot that fits your family's schedule best. Simply gather your group at the Worthington Classroom on the ground floor to begin—no registration or tickets required.
