Día de los Muertos 2026
Celebrate Day of the Dead with cultural performances and art at Ohio State.
This family-friendly celebration of Día de los Muertos invites everyone to honor and remember loved ones who have passed. Hosted by Ohio State's Department of Spanish and Portuguese and Latinx Studies Program at the Wexner Center, the event welcomes all ages at no cost. You'll find meaningful activities throughout the afternoon, including opportunities to reflect on those you've lost, create personal ofrendas (altars), enjoy a short reading with a book signing, and watch live performances.
The highlight for many families will be the hands-on art-making stations where children and adults can create together. The event also features complimentary refreshments celebrating traditional Mexican cuisine—tamales, hot chocolate, and pan de muerto (the special bread associated with this holiday). It's a wonderful way to experience cultural traditions, whether your family has a personal connection to Día de los Muertos or simply wants to learn about this meaningful celebration.
