Caribbean Flavor Celebration series

Caribbean cooking class at Philip Heit Center Demo Kitchen—fun culinary exploration.

Join this two-part cooking series that invites families to explore Caribbean cuisine while building confidence in the kitchen. These hands-on classes celebrate plant-based cooking and global flavors in a welcoming, community-focused setting. The first class, "Island Vibes," teaches you how to prepare Caribbean-inspired jerked jackfruit tacos, with a focus on mastering jerk seasoning and the smoky, spicy flavors that define the dish. You'll learn about Caribbean spice profiles and practice stovetop cooking techniques. The second class, "Creamy Dreamy Pasta," features a Jamaican-inspired plant-based pasta dish that's colorful, bold, and satisfying. Participants explore how to create creamy, dairy-free sauces using coconut milk and learn vegetable preparation techniques. Classes run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Philip Heit Center Demo Kitchen. You can register for both classes together for $150, or take individual classes for $85 each. This series works well for parents and teens interested in trying new cuisines, learning practical cooking skills, or exploring plant-based options in a fun, supportive environment.
